Tihar 2068 with Deusi-Vailo program

Yesterday, October 28, 2011, we (Laramie Nepali people) celebrated Tihar (a five-days Nepalese festival) 2068 playing Deusi-Vailo songs and dancing. It was a special occasion as it was the first Deusi-Vailo program celebrated in Laramie, Wyoming. In playing Deusi-Vailo for the first time in Laramie, we felt so proud to have started the Nepali culture and tradition here in Laramie. This Deusi-Vailo program was organized by FNUW. Around 30 Nepalese people joined the Deusi-Vailo team to celebrate Tihar. We started playing Deusi-Vailo program from Lok Nath Adhikari’s Apartment at 7:00 pm and continued playing Deusi till 8:30 pm. We visited other Nepalese people’s apartments (Landmark and Spanish apartments) to sing Deusi songs (popular Tihar songs) and dance. As token of love, they (apartment owners) offered us money, Selroti (a special type of bread) and fruits. Then we gathered at my apartment and enjoyed a lot...a get-together was held afterwards….

I have uploaded some photos from yesterday Deusi-Vailo program herewith:

Dashain Celebration 2068

We, Laramie Nepalese people, celebrated Dashain (the greatest festival of Hindus) on October 08, 2011 at Cheney International Center, UW.  ‘Dashain Celebration 2068’ was a Dashain special event organized by Friends of Nepal at UW (FNUW). Presence of UW Internationals students, professors, and faculty members  made this event glorious. Activities included in this event were Tika ceremony, Nepalese cuisine, and dancing.  I think everyone participating in this event enjoyed very much.
The credit for the event’s success goes to everyone who helped and supported this event all the way. It would never have been possible without their help and support. In my opinion, such program helps to promote Nepal and Nepali culture at UW. Thank you everyone for your help and support in making Dashain event a grand success.

I have attached some photos from Dashain celeration 2068 herewith:
