Holi and Party

Yesterday, March 19, 2011, we, Laramie-Nepalese, celebrated Holi, a hindu festival of colors. Lok dai and his family came along with Sonam, Saroj, and Puspa in our apartment. They "smeared" our face with colored powder. Then we started our journey from one Nepali's apartment to others to celebrate Holi and we headed from one apartment to other. When we reached Baichhabi dai's apartment, more people joined us. Then we went to other Nepali's apartment who are living 'Spanish Walk apartment.' Almost all Laramie Nepali people smeared each other's faces with colored powder. Lok dai, Saroj dai, and kaman Dai were playing Madal-a Nepali musical instrument, and signing folks songs while some were dancing.

Furthermore, we planned to organize a get-together so as to enjoy and celebrate Holi by eating, singing, and dancing. According to our plan, we all gathered at our apartment and started to prepare, manage, and be ready for the party. Party started at 7:00 pm and last at 2:00 am. It was a great time to enjoy with joyful friends and brothers, so I did not miss the opportunity to have a fun at the party. Lok Dai, Basant Dai, Rajan Dai, Rajendra Dai, Saroj Dai, Baichhabi Bro,Vagaban, Ajit, Sudip, Manoj, Shanker,Sano Saroj, and I all were enjoying the party very much by dancing and singing. I would like to thank you all for making party very enjoyable and special thanks to Bhaujus and Dhurba for their great help and contributions.

Tihar 2067

TIHAR  is a Nepali Festival which comes soon after Dashain and it celebrated for five days. It has been 2 years celebrating Dashain and Tihar away from my family and relatives.I can't explain and write in words how  much I am  missing my family and relatives. Even I had a great desire to celebrate the great Nepali festivals Dashain and Tihar with my family but time and situation were not in my favor.  I missed my sister very much.

I remembered  I used to celebrate and spend much time with my family, relatives and friends. I was allowed to play cards with my friends during Dashain and Tihar. I used to play cards and used to enjoy a lot with family and friends. But today only memories remind me those celebration with my family, I have nothing special celebration to enjoy. 

It is very sad to be very far away from family during festivals. In Laramie, I  tried to feel happy and enjoy even with lots of agony and pains in my heart. I know life is not always what we expect and want. This is why it is said- life is combination of happiness and sorrows. It is very sad to know that we  have classes during the time period of Dashain and Tihar. So it is impossible to go to Nepal for the celebrations of Dashain and Tihar.  In our lifetime, some situations and time bring restriction to head to our desires. 

  

तीज-बिशेष पूजा

तिज- नेपाली महिलाहरुले मनाउने एउटा महत्वपुर्ण चाडपर्ब हो | तिज नेपालमा महिलाहरुले कसरि मनाउनु हुन्छ भनेर देखेको थिए अनि धेरै पुस्तकहरुमा पनि पढेको थिए | तर लारामीमा भाउजुहरुले यो चाड मनाएको देख्न पाउदा भने निकै राम्रो लाग्यो | बिदेशमा रहेर भएपनि नेपाली महिलाहरुले आफ्नो संस्कृतिलाई निरन्तरता दिनु हामी सबै नेपालीको लागि खुसीको कुरा हो | तिज कार्यक्रमहरुमा प्रतक्ष्य सामेल भएर आफुले पनि पुजामा सहयोग गरेको यो पहिलो अनुभब थियो | यसपाली तीज केहि बिसेस भयो- लारामीमा पनि पुजा गरि मनाईएको तिज देख्न पाईयो|

यसपालिको तिज कार्यक्रम अविस्मरनिय भयो- मलाइ पनि तेसपुजामा आमन्त्रण गरिएको थियो-पुजाको सहयोगको लागि | भाउजुहरु -जागित्री भाउजु, शोभा भाउजु,रुबिना भाउजु,पवित्रा भाउजु , प्रकृति भाउजु, सोनाम र पुस्पा तीजमा ब्रतबसी पुजाको लागि तयार हुनुहुन्थ्यो |तिजमा भाउजुहरुले धुमधाम नाचगान पनि गर्नुभएको रहेछ | लोक दाई,राजन दाई र म पुजाको लागि आवस्क्यक सहयोग गरिराखेका थियौ भने अर्कोतिर हामी फोटो खिच्न पनि व्यस्त थियौ | पूजामा ब्राह्मणको रुपमा राजन दाईलाई सहयोग गरेको भन्दा पनि तेती अनुचित नहोला किनकी समयले मनिसलाई धेरै कुर सिकाउदो रहेछ| पूजा नगरि नहुनेभएपछी बिदेशमा भएपनी पूजा गर्नुपर्दो रहेछ | राजन दाईलाई बिशेष धन्यवाद|

पूजा सकिएपछी हामी प्रसाद खान लाग्यौ, खिर + अरु परिकर खायौ | भाउजुहरु भने केही खानुभएन किनकी उहहरु ब्रतबस्नुभएको थियो- दाईहरुको लागि |भाउजुहरुले खाना एबम अन्य परिकारहरु साह्रै मिठो बनाउनुभएको रहेछ| भाउजुहरुलाई बिशेष धन्यवाद!!!
